Year of the Voice 2025

Voice is Instrument of the Year 2025 - also at Breitkopf & Härtel

Since 2008, Germany's state music councils have been selecting an "instrument of the year" that tends to get little public attention. Concerts, lectures, and educational programs are intended to help change this perception. In 2025, the voice was chosen. This decision may seem unusual, but it was actually high time. After all, isn't the voice the oldest instrument in the world? The instrument that can be used by anyone, anywhere, at any time? A wonderful idea and a beautiful leitmotif for 2025, to which Breitkopf & Härtel has also committed itself.

Year of the Voice 2025

Editions for choir and voice have traditionally been an integral part of our publishing program. Ever since the publication of Schemelli's Hymnal in 1736, the voice has been firmly anchored in the DNA of the world's oldest music publisher. This first musical bestseller was followed by the successive expansion of our vocal program, which will be complemented by outstanding new additions this year: Rediscovered choral works, textbooks on vocal technique or song accompaniment, and new song collections - there will be something for everyone who wants to make their voice heard musically.
