  • Description

This first edition of the Scherzo for String trio is based on the autograph and an early non-autographic copy. Both sorces are preserved in the Eisler Archives of the Akademie der Künste Foundation in Berlin, to which we express our thanks for having allowed us to consult the sources. Accidentals and bowings have been set according to present-day usage, and all serious errors ascertained in the fair copy have been corrected in accordance with the manuscript. This publication represents the first edition of a musical work by the young Hanns Eisler, dating from the years prior to his studies with Arnold Schoenberg.

Annette Reinhardt, Leipzig, Spring 1999
