Mourning the Death of Lieselotte Sievers

The Breitkopf & Härtel publishing house and the Breitkopf & Härtel Foundation mourn the death of Lieselotte Sievers (née von Hase), their longstanding publishing director and managing partner, who passed away at age 96.

Lieselotte Sievers, a great-great-granddaughter of Gottfried Christoph Härtel (1763-1827), was involved with the publishing house for 65 years, leading the company through good and bad times. In November 2016, she handed the management over to Nick Pfefferkorn and Sebastian Mohr. Her last wish was for the publishing house to return to its founding location in Leipzig.

It is with great humility and gratitude that we bid farewell to a publisher who shaped a crucial part of Breitkopf & Härtel’s publishing history. We shall miss her lightheartedness, her sharp mind, and her subtle humor. Our deepest sympathy goes to her family and all her relatives.
