Bachs models, the Two-Part Inventions presented here as well as the Four Duets BWV 802–805, proved to be so ideal for the distribution on the two stringed instruments that David was even able to leave the pieces in the original keys. The present edition was published in 1984 in a thoroughly revised new printing with modern music engraving.
