Ondulation – Night Music
[pno(pno,electronics)] 2014 durée: 8′ Sortira fin octobre 2026
Description
Ondulation – Night Music originates from two related sounds: the East Asian gong and the distinctive “belllike” sound produced by the strings of the piano. Between these two sounds exists a cultural gravity.
Their various overtones, together with the diverse information they carry, unfold within the structural space of the work.
The second half of the title suggests that the work is connected to an uncharted world beyond music, and looks forward to discoveries within that realm.
The two versions of Ondulation are closely connected. When performed in a larger space, where sound can travel and resonate more freely, the tempo may be a little slower.
In the solo piano version, there is room for slightly more rubato.
