Like no other, the experienced teacher, composer and pianist Manfred Schmitz (1939–2014) knows how to set the imagination in motion in his Rainbow Preludes. Influenced by jazz, one or the other could actually be the soundtrack to this or that movie – always with a didactic purpose. In his collection of over twenty dreams at the piano, Manfred Schmitz also leaves plenty of room for your own romantic improvisations.
The short pieces offer a sound journey through different landscapes, from melancholic sounds to colorful passages. Schmitz's memorable musical figures allow the player to explore harmonic progressions and pedal sounds, and thus to approach the spirit of the music, with its sometimes meditative character, through improvisation.
