Description
The idea of transcribing Bruckner's symphonic movements for the organ is not as unusual as it may seem at first glance. Bruckner also incorporated themes from his symphonies into his own organ improvisations. The sound gestures and large-scale structure of his symphonies translate well to the characteristics of the organ. Our edition includes a detailed preface by Erwin Horn, who discusses the challenges of the transcription process. In any case, these transcriptions enrich Bruckner's sparse original organ literature.
