Our imprints represent a vivid score of musical history, bringing together diverse musical styles to create a cohesive soundscape. Each edition has its own history, aesthetic and artistic approach – while also embodying the values of our publishing house.
We continuously maintain and expand the programs of all three imprints through reprints and new publications. This preserves the rich musical heritage while providing new impetus for research, editing and musical practice. Each imprint contributes to an ongoing dialogue between Breitkopf & Härtel's publishing tradition and the present.
Deutscher Verlag für Musik (DVfM)
Tradition from Leipzig. Sound for the Present.
Founded in Leipzig in 1951, Deutscher Verlag für Musik (DVfM) was taken over by Breitkopf & Härtel after reunification and initially continued to operate independently. Today, the DVfM program focuses on the central works of Hanns Eisler, contemporary compositions by Siegfried Matthus and Udo Zimmermann, for example, as well as music education offerings, mainly for wind instruments and piano.
Musica Rara (MR).
Inspired by London. Rooted in Europe.
The catalog of Musica Rara (MR) is based on the program of the publishing house of the same name, founded in London in 1950. Specializing in wind repertoire from the 17th to the 19th century, these distinguished editions have been part of Breitkopf & Härtel since 2000.
Edition Nepomuk (MN)
Where Knowledge Resonates. And Playing Becomes Music.
Edition Nepomuk (MN) has been part of Breitkopf & Härtel since 2011. Originally developed in Switzerland, the program focuses on music education publications, including reference books and music-related games that combine learning with musical creativity.
