Description
I imagined an electric shock bringing the musicians to life, making them twirl on an unstable, rotating, and unpredictable dance floor. And then, in the second movement, I envisioned a song reminiscent of the blues (“almost a blues,” I wrote in the score), a soft, enveloping melody over which the flute would retain some memory of the initial twirls.
The original version, for flute and string orchestra, was commissioned by the Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino and dedicated to Michele Mo.
