hier preisen auf der Erd
Chorale Preludes of the Romantic to Songs of the Ev. Gesangbuches
[org]
Description
The spotlight is not on Brahms, Reger and Karg-Elert, but on the romantic organ composers Otto Dienel, Theophil Forchhammer, Max Gulbins, Otto Heinermann, Karl Hoyer, Wilhelm Kienzl, Emil Magnus, Karl Piutti and many others whose works have recently begun to attract greater attention. The idea of “romanticism” is extended into the 20th century by the inclusion of certain other composers as well.
“hier preisen auf der Erd” illustrates a particularly fruitful period in the history of organ music while also expanding the four-volume collection “in Ewigkeit dich loben”, which was unable to take certain interesting rediscoveries into account at the time of compilation.
Volumes 1 and 2 have been awarded the German Music Edition Prize 1998.
