Prof. Dr. Shen Ye is regarded as one of the most significant Chinese composers of our time. Since 2004, he has been teaching at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the oldest and most renowned music conservatory in China, where he is currently a professor of composition and music theory. In 2019, he began a collaboration with Breitkopf & Härtel for the publication of his works.

His achievements have attracted worldwide attention. Music critics acclaimed his music as "very delicate, complex and rich in interactions in a micro-scale" (Ircam 2014). Elmar Lampson writes: "His music refers with disturbing artistic intensity to existential questions of life." (HfMT 2010) On his violin concerto, Remy Franck noted: "This fascinating violin concerto is a very globalized modern music, in a very personal musical language." (Pizzicato 2019)

Shen Ye has received commissions from Klangspuren, Heidelberger Frühling, and many international music festivals and associations. His works have been performed worldwide by Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Recherche, Ensemble Les Amis, Ensemble TIMF, AsianArt Ensemble, Ensemble XXI. Jahrhundert Wien, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Chamber Singers, and world-renowned soloists such as Wu Wei, Yoo Hong, Zhi-Jong Wang, and Lini Gong.
