Description

Originally written for 12 strings, this work is presented here in an arrangement for 24 strings.

Over the past decade and a half, my musical language has undergone a gradual but radical transformation. It has not lost its substantial core, which is based on organic, haptic sound events rooted in the psychophysical, primal gestures of the human body, but it has steadily differentiated itself and been enriched by expanded sound forms.

Historical music thrives on the sequence and superimposition of fixed pitches, which are becoming less and less important to me (or appear only rarely and thus acquire a special significance). This makes me all the more radical in my search for sound events that avoid stable pitches and instead move flexibly and unfold freely in the ungraded (primordial) sound space, in bundled, gliding lines, or in noisy gestures. String instruments are particularly suitable for bringing such content to life.

Several string techniques developed by me and tested in both orchestral and chamber music, along with their multifaceted variations, characterize the virtuosically moving, dramatically heavy, or lyrically intimate textures of this work.
