Rediscovered in Urtext.
Forgotten Masterpieces. Rarely Performed. Returned to the Repertoire.
Over the centuries, many thousands of works have been published and printed by Breitkopf & Härtel. While some of these have remained part of the concert repertoire to this day, others have fallen into obscurity. Moreover, a substantial number of compositions were never printed at all and have therefore remained hidden in the shadows of music history. This repertoire includes, among others, works by women composers, whose dissemination was additionally limited by structural constraints.
Breitkopf & Härtel has made it its mission to bring to light works that emerged outside the established canon of music history. We prepare these works not only for performance, but also as authoritative Urtext editions. By doing so, we fulfill our cultural responsibility to represent and make accessible a diverse musical repertoire. Thanks to the dedication of the musicians and scholars who contribute their expertise and passion to this endeavor, the scope of our rediscoveries continues to expand. A selection of newly issued compositions can be found below.
