Breitkopf & Härtel mourns the loss of Siegfried Thiele
Breitkopf & Härtel mourns the loss of its composer Siegfried Thiele, who died in Leipzig on 24 November 2024 at the age of 90. Thiele was closely associated with our publishing house for many decades and left his mark on our program, particularly in the fields of orchestral and vocal music.
Careful composition and clear structures are among the key elements of Thiele’s musical language, and at the same time reflect an artistic personality who has significantly influenced musical life in Saxony for decades, including a sensitive period (1990-97) as rector of the Leipzig Musikhochschule.
Grateful for the many years of common pathways, our thoughts and condolences go out to his loved ones today.
