Bolero and La Valse
Welcome to our Score and Orchestral Library, Maurice Ravel!
When the new editions of Boléro and La Valse are released in January 2008, Maurice Ravel will be the fifth French orchestral com-poser to take his place in the “Breitkopf Urtext” catalogue after Debussy, Franck, Saint-Saëns and Lalo. The performance materials of all the new Urtext Editions of French orchestral music are completely available on sale.
The new edition of „La Mer“ takes Debussy’s own concert and conducting experiences into consideration for the first time. It was based on the 1909 edition, the “final autographic version.” Saint-Saëns’ „Carnival of the Animals“ is enhanced with the popular texts by Loriot. The new edition of César Franck’s symphony is based not only on the first edition (the autograph was burned in 1935) but also on the piano reduction made by the composer. And as for Lalo’s „Symphonie espagnole“, a newly found source turned out to be a genuine sensation: the previously unknown autograph of the solo part.
