Albinoni: Sonatas from "Sonata a tre op. 1"
Nos. 10 - 12 - Urtext ed. by Lutz Martin
Albinoni’s op. 1 in its entirety
After three very successful books, the fourth volume containing Albinoni’s last three pieces comes as no surprise, seeing that it concludes the edition and makes the Trio Sonatas op. 1 available in their entirety. The trios were already widely disseminated during the composer’s lifetime, as can be seen by various prints and Bach’s own arrangements in the harpsichord fugues BWV 946, 950 and 951. The state of the sources is ideal for a well-grounded edition: the partbooks of the first edition of 1694 provide a secure foundation on which Martin Lutz worked out a musical text that, compared with other transmitted sources, provides a reliable basis.
