Urtext Editions Today
10 April 2013: At the start of the Frankfurt Music Fair, Breitkopf & Härtel and G. Henle Verlag both hailed the impressive progress made at the major construction site “Mozart21.”
The catalogue “Mozart21 – Urtext Editions Today,” for which the internationally renowned musicians René Jacobs and Lars Vogt have written short testimonies, comprises 16 pages and over 120 titles. Many important works by Mozart in all instrumental settings can be found in the catalogue, all of them products of the 21st century. In other words: these Urtext editions released since the year 2000 are – as far as the state of the sources and scholarship is concerned – between one and two generations more up-to-date than all other existing editions.
Henrik Wiese’s new edition of the “Hafner” Symphony came out right on time for the Frankfurt Music Fair. Both publishing houses will be consistently bringing out new Mozart works in Urtext editions, some of them as coproductions. The mutual website provides current information about the busy construction site “Mozart21.”
